LIVERPOOL CONTINUE BRIGHT START TO SEASON

Liverpool bright start to the season has naturally brought about plaudits with the Reds displaying their credentials with near flawlessness this season. The latest defeat of Tottenham showed a different side to the Reds.

Having trailed to an early minute goal scored by Harry Kane the Reds could have wilted under the pressure. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men are made of sterner stuff and were able to turn things around with total domination.

The defence which is the strength of the Reds shone with the challenge of Harry Kane and apart from a rare chance for Son, the Alisson did not have much to do.

Trent Alexander-Arnold once again displayed his ability to create chances from the right full-back position making dangerous key passes. His opposite number Andy Roberson was also in good form producing space and dangerous runs on the left.

The midfield shone with Fabinho dictating the pace of the game with a positive performance which shows how he has grown in the game. Captain Henderson was a terror to the Tottenham midfield with a wonderful goal after the break which brought the Reds back into the game.

Despite complaints from some quarters Henderson has emerged as the captain that the club hoped for after the departure of Steven Gerard. Mohammed Salah also displayed the cold blood that was needed to finish off spurs with the penalty.

Sadio Mane has already become a major star in the attack and was at it tormenting the defence of Spurs. Roberto Firmino was his assured self with his creative instinct and excellent performances which have come to characterize his stay at the club.

After the game, several ex Liverpool players spoke about the chances of the team with Babel revealing that this squad could go one better than last season.
