The agent of Ryan Babel, Winny Haatrecht, has confirmed that Fiorentina has shown interest in the Dutch striker and Babel might sign for the Italian Club. Babel is currently the player of Hoffenheim. But, Markus Babbel, the manager of Hoffenheim, has put him on sale this summer. According to the reports, Babbel was not happy with the performance of the Dutch striker in the last season. So, he decided to release Babel.
However, according to Haatrecht, the decision to release Babel has nothing to do with the striker’s performance in the last season. He has been put on sale due to some complications in his contract. On being asked about that, Markus Babbel said that the allegations of Haatrecht are completely baseless. Babel has been released because he wasn’t able to stand up to the expectations of the club in the last season. Babel had been told a number of times that the club wanted him to show more enthusiasm on the field, but, he never tried to take his performance to the next level. If a player is not giving his 100% for the team, there is no point keeping him in the squad.
Meanwhile, Alberto Aquilani, who was the Liverpool team mate of Babel, has said that Babel is a very good player and he could be a fantastic buy for Fiorentina. Aquilani himself has signed for Fiorentina this summer. As per Aquilani, he played a lot of football with Babel. Babel is a versatile player and he creates a lot of goal opportunities on the field. On being asked about his targets in the upcoming season, Aquilani said that he is looking forward to playing for the new club. Fiorentina has a good bunch of players and the team is pretty strong. So, it would not be easy for him to find a place in the first team.
