BABEL REVEALS BIGGEST CAREER REGRET

Ex-Premier League winger Ryan Babel has opened up on his biggest regret as a professional football player. Ryan Babel talked about his biggest career regret in an interview with the Daily Mirror. According to the Dutch international player, his biggest regret is leaving Liverpool after his almost four-year stay on Merseyside. Ryan Babel became a Liverpool player in the summer of 2007.

Liverpool paid big money to secure his signature. The Reds paid  €17.25m to sign Ryan Babel from Ajax Amsterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie. At the end of his Liverpool career, he had represented the six-time European champions almost 150 times. Ryan Babel had an attacking output of 22 goals and 18 assists in his 146 appearances for Liverpool. Ryan Babel was a decent player for the Reds during his time at Anfield but he was unable to win any silverware. He was at Liverpool until January 2011 when he left for German Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim.

BABEL REVEALS CLUBS WHO REJECTED HIM

 

Galatasaray winger Ryan Babel has revealed the clubs that turned him down while he was struggling in his career. He mentioned the clubs in an interview with Voetbal International. According to the Dutchman, teams in the Premier League and the German Bundesliga rejected him while he was at one of the lowest points of his career as a footballer.


The ex-Liverpool player wanted a new challenge after his unsuccessful spell with Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam and this informed the decision to call some clubs. His agent called both West Ham United and Aston Villa in the English top flight. The two teams turned down the chance to sign him. Bundesliga teams like Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 also said no to him. He scored four league goals in 16 outings during his second Ajax Amsterdam spell.

Ryan Babel, the Netherland player says that Virgil van Dijk is going to be a worthy candidate for the Ballon d’Or of 2019. Van Dijk, the player from Liverpool has shown himself to be one of the best defenders of the world as he made a move from Southampton to Liverpool with £75m in the month of January of 2018.
